He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dorothy (Dean) Royce; daughter, Terry Royce of Trumansburg; son, Phil Royce of Newfield; grandchildren, Matt, Scott, Kyle and Adrianna; three great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Age 81, of Dundee, Florida, and formerly of Cayuta, NY, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 4, 2018. Gary is survived by his four children: Ryan Brown of Cortland, NY, Tyler and Samantha Brown of Odessa, NY, Craig (Becky) Brown of Cayuta, NY and Paxtyn Brown of Elmira, NY.

He was a member of the Italian American Veterans Club, America Legion Post #1208, Wayne, NY, and the Elmira Elks Lodge #62. Anthony’s Church, where he was one of the organizers of the annual festival. He was a retired Chemical Engineer with a passion for math and the environment.

He most recently was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Parish. He loved conversation, good food, travel and model trains.

Gary was a kind, loving man “who never met a stranger.” He led a big life, always willing to help his friends and neighbors, and at the center was his family and children. Age 44, of Painted Post, passed away unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, January 30, 2018. He is survived by a daughter, Shelly (Kenneth) Kleist of Sneads Ferry, NC; a son, Christopher Yaw (Amy Yontz) of Millport; brothers, Douglas Yaw of Ovid and Philip Yaw of Corning; grandchildren, Abrielle, Kyran, and Kenneth III Kleist, and Riley and Kayley Yaw; and by many nieces and nephews.
